Hong Kong’s Critical Urban Topographies & Morphologies: Inverting & (Re)-Assembling Interior Worlds

Tutor: Gilles Vanderstocken

CHAN Lok Yiu, Yoyo
The course focuses on the examination of the various forms of urban extremes, their processes, actors and the lamination of these variables into a spatial and technological context. That is to say; how various spatial elements are brought together into a uniformed synthesis.

The complexities and intricacies associated to the laminated and hybrid interiors are focused. The question goes beyond interiority. Using the concepts of science to evaluate spaces (morphology , typologies) and their functional performances (information and assessment), students are expected to develop foundational knowledge within the realms of architectural tectonics, landscape, services, spatial design, spatial reuse and its social implications all framed within a level of critical research and technological questioning. (Spatial + Structural + Interior qualities + Tectonic).
